DJ & Dance

When: Fri., Sept. 30, 10 p.m. 2011

Electronic artist Zomby is sort of like the undead. He rampages through sounds, swallowing the styles of others to feed his own unique body of work -- at the very least, he's hard to nail down. Let me give you a sense: The UK producer will work extensively with members of Animal Collective, and then venture over to play a live show with Lady Gaga. For that reason, some call him a pop artist, while others think that the term "dubstep" is sufficient. Meanwhile, his own solo material receives universally high marks among electronic music critics. This week a heaping handful of other exciting electronic acts and DJs will perform in his honor, among them fellow breakthrough pop-oriented electronic artist, Machinedrum. The 120-Minutes room is going off, too, with performances by Laurel Halo and Teams, among others. Plus the venue alone is worth checking out. Also the home of multi-level, bass-pumping dance party Low End Theory SF, it'll look pretty familiar to anyone who's frequented 1015 Folsom.  At 103 Harriet (103 Harriet St., San Francisco) on Friday, Sept. 30. 10 p.m., $20.
