Young People's Symphony Orchestra

Over its 75-year history, the Young People's Symphony Orchestra, the second-oldest youth orchestra in the United States, has propelled large numbers of young musicians into professional careers. Their Concerto Concert this weekend showcases two fourteen-year-old winners of the YPSO Concerto Competition. Oboist Liam Boisset plays a movement from Krommer's Oboe Concerto, and violinist Hilda Li essays a movement of Wieniawski's Violin Concerto No. 2. Also on the program is the world premiere of 2009 alumna Gabriella Smith's Visions on the Pacific Rim, De Falla'sSuite from the Three Cornered Hat, andDukas' Sorcerer's Apprentice.
