But don’t ever call the book published by Hayward’s Catbird “science fiction.” That’s because Forever and Ever, a “biotech thriller” about a female scientist who discovers a way to reverse aging, represents a new genre in tech-savvy narrative, say Catbird’s principals: writer Dan Baker, scientist Walter Funk, and marketer Pat Brodehl. Their fascination with “garage science” hasn’t exactly set the world on fire yet, but they’ve got the grassroots marketing for The Celestine Prophecy as a model.
