Owner Aya Amornpan and her husband, chef, and co-owner Note Mansawataphaiboon, are on a mission to bring hard-to-find dishes from their hometown of Bangkok to the East Bay. While some of the menu features street food dishes from their sister restaurant Imm in Berkeley, there’s also an entire section of the menu dedicated to home cooking. Try the pa-lo: pork belly, hard boiled eggs, and fried tofu in a dark, slightly sweet five-spice sauce. Or try the avocado green curry, which is assertively spicy with cooling, creamy chunks of avocado. One of the most unusual dishes is American fried rice with ketchup, peas, and raisins, topped with a fried egg and served with hot dogs and chicken wings. It’s nostalgic kid food at its best. Don’t miss the kua gai, a street food-style smoky rice noodles with egg, chicken, seafood, and bits of fried dough. For dessert, the pandan custard bread is like eating a cloud dipped into warm, comforting, eggy custard.
