Lonely bank loan officer Jim Carrey stumbles into a positive-thinking seminar and suddenly decides to say yes to every proposition he hears, leading to predictable comic confusion involving his new girlfriend (Zooey Deschanel), his dorky boss (Rhys Darby), and the self-help guru himself (bored-looking Terence Stamp). This featherweight comedy marks formerly red-hot property Carreys comeback, and hes okay. The screenplay, a jumble of immigrant jokes, maudlin introspection, and cheap laughs written by four guys, doesnt exactly help Carreys case. Directed by Peyton Reed, who seems to have been open to suggestions himself (104 min.).
