Wild 94.9's Bomb Concert

When: Fri., June 26, 6 p.m. 2009

Wild 94.9 took a leap of faith this year and combined its usual line-up of flash-in-the-pan hip-hop artists (i.e., the Soulja Boy Tell 'Ems and Keri Hilsons of the world) with some older standard-bearers. The 2009 Summer Bomb concert will feature dancehall titan Sean Paul along with Ice Cube, an emcee-turned-movie star whose albums might qualify as classical gangsta rap, if such a thing exists. Cube has so much staying power that current rap stars are still trying to emulate him. He'll bring a sense of rootedness to a show that's otherwise full of hot-stars du jour -- among them the bawdy R&B songstress Keri Hilson, brash rapper Rick Ross, falsetto singer-songwriter The-Dream, the seemingly indefatigable Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, and bilingual emcee Pitbull. By incorporating elements of R&B, reggae, Miami bass, synth pop, and old-school hip-hop into its programming, Wild 94.9 designed a Bomb that's surprisingly all-inclusive. It's even got something for the big kids. Fri., June 26, 6 p.m. at Shoreline Amphitheatre (One Amphitheatre Pkwy. in Mountain View) $25.50-$95.50.
