The Chauncey Bailey Project keeps marching on with two new installments the past two days, both of which were solid but not spectacular. The first detailed the fine work of Oakland Police investigator Jim Saleda and how he assembled the rape and molestation charges against Your Black Muslim Bakery patriarch Yusuf Bey. The only problem was that OPD’s ridiculous gag order prohibited Saleda from talking about what he had accomplished. The second piece explored the miserable lives of young women at the hands of the elder Bey. It was a good report, but hardly groundbreaking. Both the Express and the San Francisco Chronicle had already explored significant aspects of this story. Which raises the question — when will this project be over?
