1) KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE
Celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a free community event featuring SF State professor Dr. Wade Nobles, musical performances, and a meal from People’s Grocery. At McClymonds High School; 10 a.m.-noon, free.
2) TREE PLANTING
Urban Releaf leads a day of planting trees in West Oakland. Meet at 27th and Market streets. 10 a.m.-2 p.m., free.
3) WRITE TIME
Cultivate your writing at the Art Beat Writers’ Society’s weekly writing and performance workshop. At the 25th Street Collective. 7-9:30 p.m., $15 for drop-in.
4) INTERPRETIVE DREAM
Six ten-minute musicals will ponder the topic “I Have a Dream” as part of the Monday night PlayGround series at Berkeley Rep. 8 p.m., $15-$20.
5) REIMAGINING BLUE
Hear imaginative reinterpretations of Joni Mitchell’s seminal 1971 release Blue, including an electro-pop version of "A Case of You," a Tropicalia-style "All I Want," and a hip-hop symphony cover of "This Flight Tonight." At Freight & Salvage; 8 p.m., $22.50, $24.50
