Walking the Key System's C Line

When: Sun., July 16, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 2017

In the early 20th century, Borax Smith and his Key Route spawned new neighborhoods all over Oakland by providing fast electric trains to San Francisco. The C Line, which ran on 40th Street to Piedmont Avenue, was the second such line. Though the trains are gone, their imprint on the neighborhood's buildings and streets is visible if you know where to look. Join us to see where the trains ran and to see how their existence still affects the neighborhood today. Tour ends on Piedmont Avenue, where you can enjoy lunch. Walk or bus back to BART. A level walk.

Price: $10-$15
