The LA-via-Chicago band OK Go, known for its clever videos that have gone insanely viral, has just released a new vid for the song "End Love." The band's video success highlighted the discrepancy in thought between major labels and modern-day bands, and prompted OK Go to leave its major label, which had limited the ability of others to embed the band's videos on other web sites. OK Go then became one of the first big acts to join YouTube's Musicians Wanted program, which allows artists to capitalize on the popularity of their videos.
The group's latest isn't quite at the level of their other hits, but it's a fun example of time-lapse video, stop-motion, and other time-warping techniques. And they're hoping this one goes viral, too. To encourage this, the band is currently holding a contest to reward the person who uploads the video to their Facebook page and earns the most comments in two weeks. The winner will receive a personalized, engraved iPad loaded up with OK Go's complete catalog of music and videos, plus some "exclusive content and apps we think are funny."
