Very Be Careful

When: Thu., July 15, 8 p.m. 2010

The musicians in Very Be Careful grew up listening to vallenato, an Afro-Columbian music from Columbia's northeast coast that blends African, Spanish and indigenous beats. The Columbian-American rockers previously played in punk, blues, rock and Mexican bands, and they bring those influences to their own take on vallenato. They've been blowing away their Los Angeles fans with relentless grooves and energetic live shows for a decade, playing in a traditional style with accordion and percussion dominating the mix. They're finally getting some national attention with Escape Room, recentlyreleased on the hip NYC world music label Barbes. Very Be Careful plays Thursday, July 15 at the Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell St., San Francisco). 8 p.m. $9.99
