This is pretty exciting. Two years after its Cal Performances debut, the violin-piano duo of VadimRepin and Nikolai Luganskyreturn, dazzle, and transport with Claude Debussy's Sonata in G minor, Sergei Prokofiev's Sonata No. 1 in F minor, and Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata No. 9 in A major, "Kreutzer." Both men have won numerous prestigious competitions: Repin the gold medal in all age categories at the Wieniawsky Competition when he was eleven, and the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition six years later; Lugansky first prize at the All-Union Competition in Tbilisi, and the silver medal at the 8th International Bach Competition in Leipzig, both at age sixteen, and the 10th International Tchaikovsky Competition six years later.
