Rated PG-13 113 minutes 2011

Screenwriters Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell take a provocative premise—an American scientist in Berlin loses his passport and his identity, after which even his wife claims not to know him—and spin it into dunderheaded improbability. The classy cast is anchored by Liam Neeson as the bewildered hero and includes January Jones (Mad Men) as his wife, a Hitchcockian cool blond; Diane Kruger as a spunky Bosnian cab driver; and, best of all, Bruno Ganz as an investigator who learned his trade in the East German Stasi. But the snow and haze that Spanish director Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan) keeps pumping into the street scenes seem to have drifted into the script as well. (109 min.)
