Un-Valentine's Party

When: Thu., Feb. 14, 9 p.m. 2013

Oh to be young, Swedish pop stars. Icona Pop doesn't yet have the star status of its countrymen and-women ABBA or Robyn, but the female duo is well on the way: It recently opened for Passion Pit and Matt & Kim at Madison Square Garden, and its irresistible dance-floor anthem "I Love It" was just featured in "the cocaine episode" of the HBO series Girls. That track, off the duo's 2011 EP Nights Like This, has all the makings of a Top 40 hit: breakneck beats, an EDM bass wobble, and a chanted chorus that screams girl power. If the duo's debut album is equally catchy, Icona Pop should have no problem getting American radio play. Icona Pop's show on Thursday, Feb. 14, is already sold-out, but scour Craigslist for tickets to what could be your last chance to see the duo at an intimate venue like Rickshaw Stop (155 Fell St., San Francisco). Also bringing the party jams will be local rapper K.Flay along with opener The Orwells, a Chicago-based punk band. 9 p.m., sold out.
