Student fees may go up, faculty salaries may stay put, and thousands of would-be students could be turned away. But the UC Regents still managed to find the money in their shrinking budget to reward their top aide with a $61,000 pay raise, Tanya Schevitz of the Chronicle reports. Only Lt. Gov. John Garamendi opposed the pay hike.
