Tyler Perry grounds this sequel to Why Did I Get Married?
(2007) in his trademark blend of comedy, soap opera, and down-home southern sentiment, though he lets up a little on the moral proselytizing, which aids the digestion considerably. Still, there's a strong pro-marriage-and-family stance, conveyed in an opening scene when his character is disturbed to learn that his little girl knows the meaning of the word divorce. Perry and his wife travel to the Bahamas with their upwardly mobile college pals for their annual "marriage retreat," but the vacation gets cut short by an unfortunate truth-telling session on the beach. Back home in Atlanta the men struggle with their feelings while the women suppress theirs--with the welcome exception of irrepressible harpy Tasha Smith (121 min.).
