Turkey Vultures Lecture

When: Mon., July 5, 7:30 p.m. 2010

High above the hills, they soar: jet-black, with four-foot wingspans and wrinkly red heads. Turkey vultures are fixtures of the East Bay environment, but their very name makes some people shudder. At the Montclair Presbyterian Church (5701 Thornhill Dr., Oakland) on Monday, July 5, East Bay Regional Park District naturalist Mike Moran delivers a lecture on these important but underappreciated carnivores, as part of outdoor education program Close to Home's series of talks about East Bay wildlife. 7:30 p.m., $7.
