Vanessa Woods is the filmmaker we all want to be when we grow up. She graduated from the MFA film program at San Francisco Art Institute, won scads of awards, and screened throughout Europe. She dresses fly. And she's the centerpiece of a hip art-gallery event this Sunday, Feb. 27, which also features live music, food, and poetry. The event kicks off at WE Artspace(768 40th St., Oakland) with drinks and a DJ set by Don't Tell Mom. It continues at MacArthur b arthur (4030 Martin Luther King Blvd., Oakland), where Woods will screen three new films. The night concludes with poetry and dessert at Royal Nonesuch Gallery (4231 Telegraph Ave., Oakland). By combining forces, these three art spaces turn multi-sensory entertainment into an edifying experience. 5-9 p.m., $10-$20.
