Trash Talk

When: Mon., Dec. 17, 6 p.m. 2012

It’s not often you get a tour with the two headlining acts split 50/50 between hardcore and hip-hop, but when it happens, and when those two acts happen to be Trash Talk and MellowHype, the results are likely to be more rewarding than confusing. Sacramento’s Trash Talk released its last album, 119, on Odd Future Records, the first non-member of the Odd Future hip-hop collective to do so (Tyler the Creator and MellowHype’s Hodgy Beats did guest vocals on the track “Blossom and Burn,” which is one of the album’s best). Trash Talk follows in the Black Flag/Minor Threat/Circle Jerk tradition of no-holds-barred hardcore punk, with a dose of stoner silly, and the duo arguably hit its stride in 2011 with BlackenedWhite. Also supporting is San Jose rapper Antwon, whose excellent mixtapes have cemented his status as Bay Area royalty, and Sabertooth Zombie, backing Trash Talk up on the loud, hard, fast rock end of things. They perform at DNA Lounge (375 11th St., San Francisco) on Monday, Dec. 17. 6 p.m., $15. DNALounge.com
