Tom Farber

When: Thu., Aug. 25, 7:30-9 p.m. 2011

A poet and recent grad of the Iowa Writers' Workshop once criticized David Berman's poetry as being "all punchlines." What then, we wonder, would he have thought of the epigrams of UC Berkeley lit professor Thomas Farber, whose economical forms contain wit and wisdom that turn on a dime? Gems from the collection include Species-of-one, the self, with its very own extinction event, and, When not repeating itself, history stutters. Farber reads from his latest, Foregone Conclusions, on Thursday, Aug. 25, at Mrs. Dalloway's (2904 College Ave., Berkeley). 7:30 p.m., free. 510-704-8222 or MrsDalloways.com
