Tina Dico

When: Tue., Oct. 6, 8:30 p.m. 2009

London-based Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dico flirted with major-label success in Europe, but after a music biz implosion left her with no deal, she went back to releasing music on her own label. With her stunning good looks, deeply personal lyrics, and strong understated melodies, she can fit easily into the folk, pop, AAA, or light-rock categories. Her subtle vocals might lead a casual listener to overlook the wrenching honesty of her music. Her latest offering is a collection of three EPs -- A Beginning, A Detour, An Open Ending -- that offer twenty tunes ranging from introspective girl-and-guitar meditations of love gone bad to full-blown pop productions. Dico brings a small combo to Cafe du Nord (2174 Market St., San Francisco) on Tuesday, Oct. 6. 8:30 p.m., $15. CafeduNord.com
