Tilden Tough Ten

When: Sun., May 16, 8 a.m. 2010

When the tough get going on Sunday, May 16, they'll be going ten miles. The 23rd annual Tilden Tough Ten is the first in a series of trail-running challenges that take place in the EastBay hills over the next six weeks, collectively called the East Bay Triple Crown Trail Championship. Participants start and finish at Inspiration Point in TildenPark (1000 WildcatCanyon, Berkeley). In between, the long-distance dashers will climb Nimitz Way, head to the Mezue Trail, then double back. The website for race sponsor Lake Merritt Joggers and Striders waxes eloquent about the lovely sites and breathtaking views, but for the 300 runners who make up the field, it's likely they'll need every breath to place well in the increasingly competitive and popular event. 8 a.m., sold out with limited possibility of race-day entry.
