Meg Ryan and Annette Bening tie on the feed bag in a gutless, brainless, Chick-Flick-in-Excelsis remake of the old Clare Boothe Luce adaptation about New York females swarming around a rich woman (Ryan) whose husband is cheating on her. Where the 1939 Luce/George Cukor version treated most of its socialite characters with comic contempt, the update rewritten and directed by Diane English of TVs Murphy Brown actually seems to admire its.
