It seems like a slam-dunk pitch -- Pretty Woman with the genders reversed -- but there's one major problem: The whole hooker-fantasy bit is much more of a guy thing. Sure, they dress it up as a female showing up to a wedding with a hot guy to piss off her ex, but there's no reason on earth that a gigolo (Dermot Mulroney) who's seen it all would drop everything for Debra Messing's neurotic character Kat. Yes, she's pretty and she wants him, but surely he'd get that all the time from less annoying women. And he doesn't even look the part; you'd think potential clients would want younger and hunkier, and more capable of delivering the line, "I'd rather fight with you than make love with anyone else!" If this is the caliber of movie Messing makes, she'll never catch up to her former TV co-star, Thomas Haden Church. The fact that Julia Roberts no longer does this stuff is a good sign though.
