With its food politics and pristine farmers’ markets, the Bay Area doesn’t tend to look favorably on gaudy, greased-up fare. But while it’s true that brave souls can come to The Snack Shack to indulge in corn dogs and batter-fried Milky Ways, the menu is also dotted with seasonal salads and even the occasional French cooking term. Mostly, what you’ll find here is “ballpark style” food: chicken wings, waffle fries, and sandwiches, of which the pork belly Reuben — featuring belly that’s slow-roasted, sliced into girthy slabs, and seared on the griddle — is one of the highlights. Most menu items are gluten-free. If you aren’t counting calories — and, let’s face it, what’s the point if you've come this far? — you’ll want to wash your meal down with one of the restaurant’s excellent milkshakes.
