The Seeker is what happens when a Hollywood studio attempts to create a franchise and tries to create a fan base by feeding off the one already built up around another series of movies (and books) -- namely, Harry Potter. In the process, they forget the thrills, excitement, and, well, fun of the franchise they're aping. The Seeker, based on a children's book, doesn't even sound entirely dissimilar from the Potter series; it revolves around a child born into the modern world with magical gifts and a messianic destiny. He must save the world from a villain not-so-frighteningly called "the Rider" by surviving some trials and cursing his agent for promising him he'd be the next Daniel Radcliffe.
