The Raveonettes

When: Mon., Nov. 9, 8 p.m. 2009

There's something about how the aggression of garage rock ends up being imported into our country, whether it's the Vines busting out of that notorious prison colony that was Australia or Sweden's Hives trying to give the Strokes a run for their money. Denmark's Raveonettes are another band of foreign garage-rock invaders, and while they cleaned their sound up for 2005's sophomore effort Pretty in Black, they've since gone back to their stripped-down, reverb-heavy ways for last year's Vice Records debut Lust LustLust. But rather than rest on their collective laurels, frontmanSune Rose Wagner announced on the band's MySpace blog that he and longtime creative partner SharinFoo are not only expanding the Raveonettes lineup, but are working on a new album for release in September '09. Expect the rocking twosome to be road testing some new goodies at Bimbo's 365 Club (1025 Columbus Ave., San Francisco) on Friday, Jan. 23.9 p.m., $20.
