As you might guess from the title, the Pancakes & Booze Art Show is not your typical art show. Occurring in cities nationwide, as well as a few internationally, the show, which stops by Oakland on Saturday, will feature more than 60 emerging local artists, plus live body painting, live music, and other live art, as well as an all-you-can-eat pancake bar. And don’t forget the drinks. Tom Kirlin, creator and coordinator of Pancakes & Booze, wanted to incorporate pancakes into the event due to his habit of heading to IHOP after wild nights of college drinking. “Pancakes really have nothing to do with the artwork. It’s just two things that I love,” said Kirlin. The event aims to bring together the art community and the greater public in a lively show that appeals to the masses.
