The Mortified Guide to ... Love, Sex, and Death

When: Sat., July 12, 8 p.m. 2008

In the days before blogs there were journals, which were those wonderful, unpublishable things where teenagers could squirrel away all their private thoughts and weird sex dreams and horrible emotional rants. Journals provided the ideal forum for extreme exhibition without anybody knowing; they opened a space for experimenting with big SAT words ("Blandishment? Avaricious?Oooh... I am sooooo good") or squandering all the great lines ("What you are about to read may or may not add an extra color to the rainbow") that could have eventually wound up in an e-mail to your boyfriend or boss. On Saturday, July 12, a cast of talented storytellers read their most humiliating bad diary entries in The Mortified Guide To ... Love, Sex, and Death, which holds its EastBay premiere at the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay (1414 Walnut St., Berkeley). 8 p.m., $10, $15.
