When: Fridays, 8-10 p.m. and Saturdays, 8:30-10:30 p.m. Continues through May 27 2017

Named a Theatre Bay Area recommended production, NPR host Al Letson's Summer in Sanctuary chronicles Letson’s summer working as a creative writing teacher at the Sanctuary on 8th Street, a community center in an economically challenged neighborhood in Jacksonville, FL. Letson challenges perceptions about race and class as he struggles to connect with the disadvantaged children in his care. Letson opens the dialogue on America’s dropout epidemic, while sharing the intimate story of his attempt to make a difference in the lives of a group of high-risk kids.
