The Man Who Saved Christmas

When: Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. and Sundays, 2 p.m. Continues through Dec. 16 2007

Altarena Playhouse revives The Man Who Saved Christmas, the new musical it debuted last year written and directed by Ron Lytle, whoseOh My Godmother has also been a repeat crowd-pleaser for the venerable Alameda community theater. What a difference a year makes: The story about one toymaker's attempt to stop a ban on metal toys during World War I becomes quainter still when children's playthings are now being recalled for lead poisoning and date-rape drugs. Nov. 30-Dec. 16 at Altarena Playhouse, or 510-523-1553.
