A broken-legged movie stunt man in early Hollywood meets a five-year-old Romanian immigrant girl with a broken arm in the Los Angeles hospital where theyre both recuperating, and he tells her a long, involved, myth-like story about warriors and a princess in exotic lands. The story Roy (TV actor Lee Pace) tells young Alexandria (Catinca Utaru) is the platform for a gorgeously shot movie-within-a-movie, part travelogue, part psychodrama, by director Tarsem Singh (aka just plain Tarsem), a maker of commercials and the occasional feature narrative (The Cell). What it lacks in unfiying threads it makes up for in visual virtuosity. Just dont pick it apart too much (116 min.).
Producer: Tarsem, Arjit Singh and Tommy Turtle
