The East Bay Style Collective Mid- Summer Evening Fashion Show, Pop-Up Store and Food & Wine Tasting

When: Sat., July 11, 6-10 p.m. 2009

Formed four years ago by a group of boutique owners in Berkeley, East Bay Style Collective is by far one of the most fruitful business collaborations in town. The participating stores -- among them Feather Vintage, Magnet, and Herringbone Apothecary -- are intent on bringing a haute couture sensibility to the famously uncouth denizens of the EastBay. They hold as gospel the idea that high heels and accessories can transform any pair of jeans, that designer T-shirts can retail for $40, and that a thrift-store dress need not look like a sack. This Saturday, July 11, East Bay Style Collective presents its Mid- Summer Evening Fashion Show, Pop-Up Store and Food & Wine Tasting in North Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto (Shattuck Ave. at Vine St.), put together by local merchants, designers, and wineries. A terrific selection of frocks, cosmetics, jewelry, food, and inebriants will be available for sale, in addition to a raffle to support the Princess Project. 6-10 p.m., $4 per taste or $10 per chair at the show.
