The Donnas

The Donnas and Lilofee

When: Wed., Dec. 9, 8 p.m. 2009

Ever since the Donnas flirted with commercial success during the great garage-rock revolution of the early millennium, the foursome has tried to shake off the-Runaways-meets-the-Ramones comparisons (despite having all the band members adopt the same name à la the latter.) Seven studio albums in, the pride of Palo Alto has slowly moved toward more of a cock-rock sound reminiscent of AC/DC and assorted hair-metal bands. The Donnas have actually been around long enough to put out the self-released, Greatest Hits, Vol. 16 a few months back. With a Runaways biopic currently being worked on, the timing may just be right for the band to reemerge in the public’s eye. Decide for yourself whether or not to call it a comeback when the saucy quartet and opening act Lilofee hit the stage on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Slim’s (333 11th St., San Francisco). 8 p.m., $17.
