When: Thu., April 28, 9 p.m. 2011
Bay Area faves The Devil Makes Three may play acoustic instruments, but their high-octane blend of early country and old-time music, ragtime, folk, rockabilly and blues is delivered with an energy inspired by punk rock. The trio's style is all its own, marked by a jittery, rollicking vibe and dark humor that sets it apart from other folk and rock bands. The Devils are going to be cutting a live album next month, so they'll be road-testing a batch of new tunes and cranking up the energy for this week's hometown gig. At Slim's (333 Eleventh St., San Francisco) on Thursday, Apr.28. 9 p.m., $18. Slims-SF.com.
