When: Dec. 12-22
In years past or present, you’ve done it all: Berkley Playhouse’s A Christmas Story: The Musical, A.C.T’s A Christmas Carol, Oakland Ballet’s Nutcracker and even the YBCA’s annual Dance-Along Nutcrackerled by the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band. Which makes it the ideal time to restart or rejuvenate a future cycle — or dive in if you’ve not yet begun placing holiday events on the calendar. To get the ball rolling, head East to Walnut Creek and Center Rep’s lush production of Charles Dickens’ classic tale The Christmas Carol. Directed by Scott Denison, the two-hour extravaganza is flush with dance, music, scary ghosts and always, upgraded with new and thrilling special effects and gravity defying feats of wonder.
