The Cheshire Rock Opera

When: Fri., Jan. 25, 8 p.m. 2013

When Lewis Carroll wrote Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in 1865, he probably never guessed that 150 years later, people would be staging parties in its image with cultish delight. Carroll culture runs strong at the Metro Opera House (630 3rd St., Oakland) on Friday, Jan. 25, where Alice's Wonderland will become a real-life party for the tenth year in a row. The evening will feature musical renditions of Carroll's works, local artists plying Alice-inspired wares, flamingo croquet, puppets, an Alice costume and dance competition, and a "maddest hat" contest. 8-11:30 p.m.; $10 in Wonderland costume, $20 without.510-763-1146 or OaklandMetro.org
