"The Chalk Circle" - Not Quite Shakespeare in the Park

When: Saturdays, Sundays, 4-6:30 p.m. and Tue., July 4, 4-6:30 p.m. Continues through July 16 2017

Bertolt Brecht's most heartfelt (and funny) play “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” features music created by the cast and takes elements from the Chinese Play "Circle of Chalk", with echoes from the "The Judgement of Solomon". The story centers on the peasant girl Grusha, who rescues the abandoned child of the Governor of Nukha, in the Caucasus mountains. In her adventures she encounters characters from village and city, including the "corrupt judge with the heart of gold”, and finds her one true love. Presented free of charge in the fabulous John Hinkel Park Amphitheatre by Actors Ensemble, celebrating its 60th year.
