When: July 10-16 2017
Bertolt Brecht's most heartfelt (and funny) play (with music!) “The Caucasian Chalk Circle”, is set in the Caucasus Mountains and centers on the peasant girl Grusha, who, while fleeing violence perpetrated in her home city of Nukha, rescues the abandoned child of a member of the ruling class. In her adventures, narrated by "The Singer", she encounters characters from village and city, including the "corrupt judge with a heart of gold" Azdak (echoing "The Judgement of Solomon") and her one true love, Simon. Free in John Hinkel Park @ 4 p.m. Weekends July 1st-16th plus July 4th. Wheelchair accessible.
