The Blues Broads includes four powerful vocalists: Tracy Nelson, who got her start in San Francisco's blues rock outfit Mother Earth; Angela Strehli, who helped define the sound of Texas blues before moving to Marin to open Rancho Nicasio; Dorothy Morrison, the lead voice on the hit gospel recording "Oh Happy Day"; and Annie Sampson, who fronted the Bay Area's horn-driven blues band Stoneground. The quartet is backed by the Blues Broads Band, whose line-up includes longtime stalwarts Gary Vogensen on guitar, Steve Ehrmann on bass, keyboardist Mike Emerson, and drummer Paul Revelli.
