Lukewarm sequel finds Spidey (Andrew Garfield), still tormented by his past, getting into a biotech kerfuffle with Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), the diseased, resentful CEO of Oscorp – while also clearing up other personal issues. But the most misunderstood villain has to be Electro (Jamie Foxx), overlooked prole turned shocking avenger. Our guy stops them all. Despite the elaborate CGI, the 3D is glaringly cheap-looking and the sequel-launch-pad finale is crass in the extreme. Ever get the feeling you’re being jerked around? Costarring Emma Stone. Directed impersonally by Mark Webb. Screenplay by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Jeff Pinkner (140 min.).
