Teachers Eat Cheaper in May

May isn't just the month when schools let out for summer vacation. It's also the month in which any teacher or school employee — that means you, Lunch-Lady Doris and Groundskeeper Willie — who presents his or her teacher or school employment identification at a participating member of the Lark Creek Restaurant Group will receive $10 off his or her tab.

It's called Teacher Appreciation Month, and this is the third year that the restaurant group has offered the discounts.

“Being a teacher in California is particularly tough, given budget cutbacks, layoffs, and the general state of the economy,” said CEO Michael Dellar, who is the father of two public-school teachers. “We want to show the teachers in our communities across the Bay AreaƂ how much we appreciate their hard work by giving back and continuing to offer this promotion each May.”

There is no limit to the number of times a teacher can visit an LCRG restaurant throughout the month and receive the discount, and there is no minimum purchase necessary.

The group's East Bay restaurants include Lark Creek Walnut Creek and Yankee Pier in Lafayette.
