Filmmaker Panahi, seemingly perennially in trouble with the religious government of his homeland of Iran, waves another red flag in the faces of his oppressors with this pithy, irreverent, satirically barbed mock-doc about what happens when the director – passing himself off as a taxi driver wheeling through Tehran – encounters a succession of his perplexed fellow citizens. Biggest nay-sayer among the fares is his niece Hana, a schoolgirl already shooting her own skeptical on-the-street videos. Evidently Hana is portrayed by Hana Saeidi, Panahi’s niece in real life. “Evidently,” because the film has neither cast nor crew credits of any kind. It wasn’t supposed to have been made by the censured director. Panahi could be jailed for producing it. The poignant career of one of Iran’s most outspoken artists continues (82 min.).
