Taste of Temescal Returns Tonight

I might just be the worst procrastinator ever (ask my editor). In practical terms, that means it’s too late for me to buy tickets online for tonight’s Taste of Temescal, the third annual grazefest on Telegraph Avenue between 43rd and 51st streets, 6-8:30 p.m. You can, however, still buy the $30 tickets at a couple of neighborhood businesses: Ruby’s Garden and 17 Jewels.

Proceeds from ToT benefit some needy causes (Emerson Elementary and Claremont Middle schools, Lion Center for the Blind, Women’s Cancer Resource Center, Oakland Tech), and you can sample food from thirty different businesses.

Good thing about this event is that it represents some of the diversity of restaurants in the area — it’s not just Pizzaiolo and Bakesale Betty donating, in other words, but also Asmara, Abesha, Holy Moly, Sura Korean, and Taqueria Pico Paco.

Also, it’ll be the public debut of future Belgian waffle shop Waffle Boss. Totally exciting. Plus live music, a couple of pedicabs to carry you if you feel like giving up on walking, and a sense of neighborhood camaraderie.

(Full disclosure: my husband and I own a vintage home store in Temescal, so I’m biased in favor of the ‘hood — though not enough to overcome my procrastination about buying advance tickets. Just saying.)
