Theater & Performing Arts

When: Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. and Sundays, 2:30 p.m. Continues through April 26 2008

Molière's 1664 satire of religious hypocrisy, Tartuffe shows a rich man hoodwinked and ruined by a scheming and lustful huckster of sanctimonious pretensions, which of course is crazy talk because that sort of thing just doesn't happen. Please send money so that we can better combat the moral decay embodied in insidious plays like this, which was justly banned by the devout in its day. For Masquers' community production in Point Richmond, director Paul Shepard is using a new translation in verse by Ranjit Bolt, which was also used last year by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival up in Ashland. March 21 through April 26 at Masquers Playhouse (105 Park Pl., Point Richmond) or 510-642-4031.
