Sean Baker, maker of Starlet, tickles yet another “bad-girl” scenario out of the American underclass fabric – this time the tale of a pair of transgender prostitutes named Sin-Dee (Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) and Alexandra (Mya Taylor), whose quest for Sin-Dee’s pimp boyfriend (James Ransone) takes them through the cribs and dives of West Hollywood and introduces us to an uproarious cast of urban losers. All the characters are loud and flamboyant, including an Armenian taxi driver (Karren Karagulian) with a guilty hobby. Not much of an overt message in their caterwauling, except that everyone is entitled to his, or her, or his/her point of view. But that’s enough to keep us in stitches. Directed by Baker from a screenplay he wrote with Chris Bergoch (88 min.).
