Rated R 88 minutes 2011

Filmmaker Errol Morris swings and misses with this less-than-captivating documentary about a disturbed American former sex worker who achieved instant newspaper notoriety in 1977 when she kidnapped her Mormon boyfriend in England and forced him to have sex with her. The British tabloids pounced and Joyce McKinney had her fifteen minutes, plus about ten minutes more. We’ll give Morris (Standard Operating Procedure, The Thin Blue Line) the benefit of the doubt and say he was probably trying for a scathing indictment of gossip journalism, but it still falls flat.
