Sweater Beats is New York-based artist Antonio Cuna, whose deft handle on pop arrangements is characterized both by nods to 1990s R&B and enough forward-thinking ingenuity to earn an oft-repeated “futuristic” label. Sweater Beats’ widely heard remixes of artists such as Ciara led to a performance for the trend-setting Boiler Room series, and this year, Cuna went on tour supporting Chance the Rapper. His latest EP, Cloud City, straddles the line between EDM, hip-hop, and fractured R&B and was more than enough to ensnare the attention of club-goers today — and artists in search of the production chops needed to distinguish their tracks tomorrow. Sweater Beats headlines at 1015 Folsom (1015 Folsom St., San Francisco) on Thursday, on a bill with Promnite and Jaw Jam.
