Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks

When: Sun., July 27, 7 p.m. 2008

Husband-and-wife blues guitarists Susan Tedeschiand Derek Trucks rarely perform together, despite being two of the most popular blues musicians of the past ten years. That will change on Sunday, July 27, at the NobHillMasonicCenter (1111 California St., San Francisco) when SFJAZZ teams Tedeschi and Trucks in its Soul Stew Revival. Tedeschi met Trucks in 1999 while opening for the Allman Brothers. She was making her name as a vibrant singer and powerful guitarist, while he was blowing away other guitarists in his band and as a member of the Allman Brothers, all before the age of 21. They married in 2001, and Tedeschi took time off to start their family. The current tour showcases them separately and paired, and since they haven't recorded anything, it's the only way to hear them together. Blues-American-roots duo Scrapomatic opens. 7 p.m., $25-$75.
