Sunday Streets Berkeley

When: Sun., Oct. 14, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. 2012

It's a seductive concept, isn't it, playing in the streets? Kids try to do it, adults dream about it, and now, on Sunday, Oct. 14, everyone gets their chance with Sunday Streets Berkeley. Already wildly successful in San Francisco for five years running, the event aims to build community and foster creative use of public space by closing streets to traffic -- and Berkeley's version should be no different, with seventeen blocks of Shattuck Avenue (between Rose and Haste sts.) open to musical performances, hula-hooping classes, face-painting, free yoga classes, hands-on science activities, and much, much more, all without a car in sight. 11 a.m.-4 p.m., free.
